ARCHIVE FOR CHILDREN's PLAYHOUSES
In the beginning of 1990 I made an appeal in a weekly paper
and collected around 250 stories and photos of still existing
or no longer existing Swedish children's playhouses. The
collected materials are called the Archive for children's
playhouses and the playhouses in the archive come from all
levels of the society. The oldest ones are built in the late
nineteenth century and the newer ones are from the end of the
twentieth century.
The Archive for children's playhouses together with
interviews and information from museums, public archives etc
have been used in:
- paper articles
- an exhibition called the GIRL's PLAYHOUSES at
Leksands Kulturhus in Dalarna 1997
- a book about Swedish playhouses published at
CARLSSON BOKFÖRLAG Stockholm 2004.
NEW APPEAL
Today I am looking for photos and information about older
Swedish and foreign playhouses from the decades before
and after the turn of the 1900/2000 century.
Do you know about such a playhouse and do you want
to contribute to this part of the girls' play history, please
contact me by e-mail.
